Tips and Tricks for Moving and Handling – Lifting Legs Back into Bed

Anyone who works in the care sector will have experienced caring for a patient who struggles getting from the edge of the bed and back into bed. This transfer can prove challenging when the patient needs physical help to get their legs back into the bed. This job can be made easier with the use of a Guldmann Multi Support Sling together with a ceiling hoist.

The patient must be able to control their upper body, even if supported by a bed guard or a bed strap, whilst using the hoist to lift the weight of their legs. This allows the carer to concentrate entirely on guiding the patient.

Watch this educational video to learn how.

The Guldmann Multi Support Sling can also be used to lift or support other parts of the body, such as torso, pelvis or arms. Therapy procedures and tasks are able to easily be carried out, for example, placing wedges under the user, placing X-ray casettes and supporting limbs to carry out activities such as wound treatment, dressings or when carrying out personal hygiene procedures. The Multi Support Sling can also be used to carry out early mobilisation.
